Song Fa Bak Kut Teh was established in 1969, and has since become a well-known homegrown F&B chain that is beloved by both locals and tourists. Its outlet at Jewel @ Changi Airport is the new showcase for international diners, introducing our traditional Singaporean cuisine to more people from around the world. We were tasked to create a new Song Fa flagship store to showcase a modernised look that’s rooted in its classic heritage.
This apartment home is situated on a high level with a sweeping, unblocked view of MacRitchie reservoir and the city. Our first instinct is to create a design that fully enhances and integrates both interior elements with the beautiful exterior scenery. It’s also a home designed to co-house a multi-generational family. Hence, we have to tactfully plan and create co-activity zones for the family while maintaining personal private & breathing spaces.
The space is an experimentation with materials and design details that are unconventional for an apartment of its kind, yet suitable enough to be a young couple's permanent first home, and a cozy nest to entertain family and friends. We wanted to create a sleek, sexy look for the apartment, yet maintain a cozy and homely vibe.
