Breaking Block – A Two Wing Courtyard House
39 Bedok Lane, Singapore Bungalow
Additions & Alterations Site Area 6000 sqft
This project comprise of a bungalow with odd shape plot designed in the 80s, whereby its form is a solid block with enclosed spaces. The design concept is derived from the challenge of introducing open spaces without complete reconstruction. With most of its structures maintained, the existing house is split into two wings with a courtyard and link bridges as key features. Other elements such as skylights, movable façade and walls are introduced to enhance the open plan principle together with allowance for natural lighting and ventilation. Spatial layout has been reorganised to enhance their relation- ship and improve functionality. Apron of the odd shape block where rooms have slanted walls are treated by introducing semi outdoor patios and balconies to bring regularity to the overall layout. Such spaces provide good sun shading to the interior as well.

Bold Deluxe Living – Material Expressionist
Flora Drive
Condominium
Interior Design & Renovation Area 990 sqft
The owner recognises the compactness of a 990 sqft apartment and the need for all rooms to be maintained for family members usage. Demolition of rooms, reconfiguring/combining rooms will not be an option. Instead of trying to combine spaces, remove walls, or use white base themes to make the 990 sqft apartment feel bigger, the design concept embraces the compactness to create a home of deluxe living replicating positive feeling of luxurious holiday suites that can be felt and enjoyed daily. The design demonstrates that deluxe living does not always have to reside with only big houses/spaces. Bold materials & mirrors were used to clad the walls serving various expressions of luxury, continuity and visual expansion all at the same time. Joinery design are similarly designed to achieve continuity in full set instead of separate units.
